I found it at Ollie’s for $29.99, and at that price it was worth a try — but I still expected more.
I love a good cleaning gadget. As someone who actually pays attention to how tools perform, I’m always interested when a product promises to make everyday cleanup faster and easier. That is what caught my eye with the Dirt Devil Broom Vac BD45000V.
The concept is honestly pretty clever. It is basically a cordless broom and vacuum combo designed for quick hard-floor cleanups. The idea is that instead of sweeping dirt into a pile, bending down with a dustpan, and still leaving that annoying little line of crumbs behind, you can just sweep and vacuum as you go. The product is marketed as lightweight, cordless, bagless, compact, and made for hard floors. It also uses a rinseable filter and comes with wall-mount storage.
That all sounds great on paper.
The problem is that once I actually used it, it just did not live up to my expectations.
I found mine at Ollie’s for $29.99, and for that price, I figured it was worth testing. At thirty bucks, I was not expecting Dyson-level performance. I knew this was supposed to be more of a light-duty sweeper than a full vacuum replacement. Still, I expected it to feel a little stronger and more useful than it did.
The Dirt Devil Broom Vac is light, easy to move around, and simple to store. Those are probably its strongest points. If you have a small kitchen, laundry room, apartment, or entryway, I can see why the design would be appealing. It is the kind of tool you want to grab quickly when there are crumbs, dust, pet hair, or small dry messes on the floor.
But that is also where the disappointment starts. It feels like a product built around a good idea, not necessarily great execution.
The suction is where I wanted more. For tiny surface debris, it can help. But if you are expecting it to replace a real stick vacuum or handle deeper messes, I do not think this is the one. It feels more like a powered dustpan with a broom attached than a serious cleaning tool.
Battery life is another limitation. Other retail listings for this same model show around a 15-minute runtime, which makes sense for quick touch-ups but not for cleaning larger spaces. That is fine if you only need it for a fast sweep, but it keeps the product in a very narrow lane.
The best thing about it is the convenience. No cord. No bending down with a dustpan. No dragging out a bigger vacuum for one little mess. I like that part. I just wish the performance matched the promise better.
And that is really my biggest takeaway: the Dirt Devil Broom Vac is an interesting concept, but it did not live up to what I hoped it would be.
At $29.99 from Ollie’s, I do not regret trying it. That is the kind of price where you can justify keeping it around for small jobs. But if I were paying a much higher online price, I would be a lot more disappointed. Some listings show this model sold for much more than that, including a Best Buy marketplace listing at $117.06 at the time I checked.
For me, this is not a must-buy cleaning tool. It is more of a “nice if you find it cheap” product.
Final Verdict: The Dirt Devil Broom Vac has a smart idea behind it, and I wanted to like it more than I did. It is lightweight, simple, and convenient, but the performance just was not strong enough to make me excited about it. At Ollie’s for $29.99, it is worth a look. At full price, I would probably pass.
